A light through the darkness
Swedish rock solo project Winterland releases “Can You Take Me Home”, a slow, emotional song about finding hope during difficult times. With an expressive sound influenced by classic artists like Hall and Oates, John Hiatt and Fleetwood Mac, the song’s softer atmosphere represents an interesting contrast from Winterland’s most recent singles.
Describing the song’s topic, Fredrik Nilsson, the project’s creator, comments, “It’s about feeling lost. And trying to find someone or something to hold on to”. Inspired by his personal experience, the song was written during a difficult time in his life “I was struggling with depression and felt lost, so those were the words that came out of me…”
Recorded in Nilsson’s own Winterlandstudio in August 2022, the song was entirely written, produced, mixed and mastered by the artist himself.
A music enthusiast from an early age, Fredrik Nilsson has played with several bands over the years, allowing him to develop a mature sound, which permeated his previous project, the band Waterhill.
Nilsson’s Winterland got signed to Gothenburg-based Rexius Records in 2021. He’s now preparing for the release of ”Can You Take Me Home”, on October 14th.
