Music is everything, and the possibility to give everything to other people is what we live for
Swedish alternative country band Gravy Train approaches music with a sense of reflection and enjoyment. Feeding on a varied set of influences such as Townes Van Zandt, Turnpike Troubadours, and even Pink Floyd, the band’s eclectic style exudes joy.
Speaking about the band’s style, lead man Jonas Frykman relays: “The vast majority of characters are in one way or another about the eternal struggle from choosing the good forces instead of the evil ones” “It is about dark forces and weak souls.” This reflection on the duality of man is complemented by their joyful approach to music.
Describing the band’s style, Frykman mentions the influential role of American music: “From the beginning, the idea was to become more and more country-influenced” “lately a lot of Americana and old 70’s music has crept into the sound.” Confessing his “endless, everlasting love for Pink Floyd”, the frontman also conveys the influence of British music in the band.
Starting as Frykman’s solo project, the lead man assembled a group of experienced musicians from the Swedish scene to form the band.
Gravy Train released their first singles on Spotify in 2019, continuing with more songs in 2020.
The band got signed to Gothenburg-based Rexius Records in 2021. They’re now preparing for the release of their first EP with the label.
