Sin City

Neo-Noir Folk Pop

Malmö-based folk pop ensemble Leading Edge returns with their single “Sin City”. A darker sound, inspired by the film that gives the song its title, is expressed through haunting vocal harmonies and the folk violin solos characteristic of the band.

“The song is about the complex mix of troubles and emotions that arise from the scene in Sin City when Marv is taken home by Goldie.”, guitarist and songwriter Lewis Belcher explains. The band plays with the idea that Marv is actually quite engaged and has a deep admiration for her. The initial idea for “Sin City” was a dark/melancholic acoustic riff as we hear it in the intro. “Eventually while reflecting on the scene from the film, it felt like I had a topic neo-noir enough to match the riff”, Belcher explains.

Leading Edge originated as a group of university students in the southern city of Lund. Founded in 2012 by singer/songwriter Anna Johannisson, the band is now led by her and guitarist/songwriter Lewis Belcher.

The band released their first EP in 2016 and got signed to Rexius Records in 2019. The single “Radio Shadow” and subsequent album “Northern Lights” were released under the label in 2020.

“Sin City” will be released alongside a music video capturing gray urban landscapes in southern Sweden. It will be available on February 11th, 2022.
