Ernest Noah opens the fall season with “Similan”, the first single after his debut album “Gold”. The song would make a perfect soundtrack for the re-make of shows like Miami Vice (yet from a Scandinavian perspective). Its style lands on a sweet spot between Noah’s characteristic 80s-inspired aesthetics and the modern Swedish pop approach of producer John Åhlin.

“Similan” evokes the easy-going comfort of a romance by the beach. Thailand is a popular summer destination for Swedes, often associated with the idyllic escape from the moody winter darkness. Noah’s timeless vocal style sings love promises of today and not tomorrow, all while floating above a soothing mid-tempo synth texture.

Regarding the song’s lyrics, Noah explains: “In days of much worry, my recent songs seem to be focusing more so than ever on the idea of a romantic love that is strong and present. I’ve realized once again that I’m a hopeless romantic and a true optimist. I really want Similan to be an uplifting experience for the listener!”

Ernest Noah’s intersection of retro and top-notch contemporary pop has earned him a feature on blogs the likes of POPMUZIK and Spotify’s official Viral 50 Paraguay.

The Swedish artist had been earning a reputation as a songwriter long before getting signed to Rexius Records in 2017. He crafted top-of-the-charts songs for Japanese boy band Sexy Zone and released the single “Fight Until We Fall” under the name ColorShift in 2015. This collaboration with producer Ben Buster captured the attention of Swedish radio and made it to the top 10 for upcoming artists.

Noah’s debut single “Let It Be” was released in 2018 and was described by music outlet Aipate as “an epic record, and possibly, a pop anthem”. His first album “Gold” was released in 2019 as an homage to George Michael, marking the 35th anniversary of Wham’s “Make It Big”.

“Similan” will be available on October 30th and is the first in a series of singles to be released throughout 2020/21.
