Scars

Confronting the wounds

Swedish rap artist Xersize releases “Scars”, a heartfelt, revealing track about his mental health issues. With sincere lyrics and an emotional beat, the track’s sound can be reminiscent of the style of NF’s “Trauma”.

“The song is about struggling with your inner demons”, Xersize confesses, discussing his creative approach when approaching the topic, “we’re talking about certain mental health issues as if they were physical people”.

“I really needed to get this out“, reveals the artist about the song, which shows a more personal side to him, serving as a therapeutic catharsis and also aspiring to connect to others who are affected by mental health issues, “you’re not alone. There’s millions of us feeling this. (. . .) try to understand yourself”.

Enlisting the help of producer and friend Robinholta, most of the track was recorded in the artist’s home studio. The song also features his dear friend Madeleine Liljestam, lead singer of the band Eleine, who recorded her vocals in Eleine’s studio.

Xersize’s debut album “Xersize” was released in 2019, followed by his second album “Välkommen Hem” in 2020. The rapper got signed to Gothenburg-based Rexius Records in 2021. He’s preparing for the release of “Scars” on January 13th.
