Drones & aeroplanes

Peace will be back

Swedish alternative country band Gravy Train returns with “Drones & aeroplanes”, a song about war and peace with holiday themes that bring to mind classics like Chris Rea’s “Driving Home for Christmas” and Bright Eye’s version of “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas”.

Reflecting on the inspiration behind the song’s topic, Jonas Frykman, the band’s lead man, expressed his concern about “The situation we’re living in right now. The war in Ukraine affects us all”.

“Drones & aeroplanes” rejects being labeled as a “peace song”. Choosing to go beyond the mere desire for peace in order to firmly state that, ultimately, there will always be peace beyond the war, or, as the song itself says, “That war will be over, will never be back”.

Recorded in October 2022 in the Stigbergsstudion in Gothenburg, the band enlisted the help of producer Petter Lithvall for the project.

Gravy Train released their first singles on Spotify in 2019, continuing with more songs in 2020.

The band got signed to Gothenburg-based Rexius Records in 2021. They’re now preparing for the release of “Drones & aeroplanes” on December 9th.
