Layers of Me

An Ode to Vulnerability

The newest sound of Norwegian pop artist Christine Ekeberg leans towards acoustic confessions. With the piano as the only company, “Layers of Me” continues this path initiated by the artist’s recent single “Beautiful Mess”. The honest, straightforward vocals and lyrics remind you of artists like Adele and Lewis Capaldi.

“The song tells the story of a person who is afraid to lose someone they love if they show all the different sides of themselves.”, Ekeberg tells us. “Only a few people, if anyone at all, will ever see the center and be able to peel off all the layers and see you for who you really are. The question is, will they love you regardless?”, the artist wonders.

The title of the song was inspired by Youtuber Nikkie de Jager, who had recently shared a new series by the same name. Her vulnerable story resonated with Ekeberg.

“I felt the lyrics could be stronger, so I called up my lyrics God, Sindre Timberlid Jensen, and said, “here is the melody, I know it’s strong and I feel in my heart that the title needs to be ‘layers of me’, can you help me?”. The song also featured the collaboration of producer Christian Østmoe.

Christine Ekeberg has been active as a songwriter and performer throughout her career. A silver medal in the World Championship of Performing Arts in Los Angeles and the semifinals at the International Songwriting Competition in 2020 are among her achievements.

The artist is currently preparing for the release of “Layers of Me”, available on March 25th via Rexius Records.
