Ingest ≈ Digest

Searching for a silver lining in life

Swedish indie rock band Koala Bar releases their third album “Ingest ≈ Digest”, a versatile project with a reminiscent sound to artists like Angus & Julia Stone, Fleet Foxes and Phoebe Bridgers.

The album’s initial concept, described by band members as “some feeling of alienation and (. . .) of not really fitting into this strange world”, later gained a more positive perspective, “As much as it’s an album about doubt and inadequacy it’s also about the solidarity and hope that unites us”.

“A lot of the songs are actually quite hopeful and encouraging (although they initially might seem darker)”, the band members add. A positive outlook also described as “‘ingesting’ and ‘digesting’ everything that life throws at you”.

About the songs, the band highlights, “We really want the listener to get this roller-coaster-feeling when you listen to the album – not knowing what to expect from the next song”.

With the assistance of producer Petter Lithvall, “Ingest ≈ Digest” was recorded between September 2021 and July 2022 in the Stigbergsstudion in Gothenburg, it is Koala Bar’s first album as a quartet.

Starting as a duo in 2015, Koala Bar gained recognition after being nominated in music magazine Gaffa’s Best New Artist category with their 2018 debut album “Di Sorte”. In 2020, they released their second full-length album “Ethos Pathos Locos”.

Koala Bar signed with Gothenburg-based Rexius Records in June 2022, they’re preparing to release “Ingest ≈ Digest” on December 2nd.
