Fighting the inevitable
Swedish singer/songwriter Elias Macy sings about a dying relationship in “I Don’t Wanna Say Goodbye”, a song filled with dynamic guitar sounds and an expressive vocal performance that reminds of the style of Shawn Mendes’ “When You’re Gone” or Niall Horan’s “Black And White”.
Describing the song’s lyrics, Elias relays, “it’s about a relationship that’s fading away but you can’t wrap your head around it”. The feelings of denial, which can be easily perceived in the song’s chorus, can also be seen in the lyrics’ constant references to the past, “you end up thinking back to when things were good”.
Recorded between September and October of 2022 in the artist’s own studio, the song’s upbeat musical style is described by the artist as “the right way to go”.
The years of self-learning and work led Elias Macy to sign for Gothenburg-based Rexius Records in 2018. After releasing a demo called “What You Want”, the singer decided to take a hiatus and continue to develop his craft. In 2022 he returned with his singles “Happy I Met You” and “Your Love”.
The artist is now preparing for the release of “I Don’t Wanna Say Goodbye” on January 27th.
