About rendezvous and past love
Belgian bedroom pop artist Ben Wolf sings to a former lover in his new release “Bitter”. With catchy melodies and a rich beat that brings memories of Ed Sheeran’s “Shape Of You”, the song displays an interesting mixture of Ben’s classic lo-fi sound and dancehall vibes.
Inspired by events in Ben’s life, the song narrates the experience of reencountering an ex and speaking for the first time since their breakup, “It was at a funeral of a mutual friend”, describes Ben.
“Bitter” serves as an accurate portrayal of the vast range of emotions felt after ending a relationship, and, as Ben says, eventually “accepting the one you love (or loved) loves someone else now”.
Originally written in Belgium and recorded in Gothenburg a couple of months later, “Bitter” was co-produced by Ben and producer Petter Lithvall after an explorative and arduous process which the artist describes as an “eye-opener”.
Ben Wolf released his first two singles “Ultraviolet” and “Try Again, Tomorrow” in 2020, followed by the release of his first EP “Now You Know” in 2021. He has also collaborated with other artists, such as Belgian artist WAYI, for whom he wrote the song “Mind Mazes”, reaching the first spot on Belgium’s “Bubbling Under” chart.
The artist signed with Rexius Records in May 2022, he’s now preparing for the release of “Bitter” on February 3rd.
