Gates of Hell

A Cathartic Exploration of Betrayal and Moving On

One For The Many, the Swedish alternative rock band, is excited to announce the release of their new single “Gates of Hell” on May 12th, 2023. Featuring cathartic lyrics and a haunting vocal performance reminiscent of the sound of Chris Cornell, the song explores the aftermath of a destructive relationship.

Joel Melin, one of the band’s members says, “This song is about a destructive relationship and how to move on from it. It was inspired by a personal experience of dishonesty and betrayal, and the struggle to make sense of it all.” The creative process started with a single sentence that encapsulated Melin’s state of mind perfectly: “When you arrive at the gates of hell, you will remember me.”

The song contrasts the extreme darkness of the verses with a hopeful rhetoric in the chorus. Melin explains, “The narrator tries as hard as he can to convince himself that he’s not to blame, and that he will find a better life, while the partner will struggle and forever be haunted by the decisions she made.”

One For The Many was formed in 2019 by Joel Melin and Kevin Klasson, who clicked instantly and began writing music together after their first meeting.

“Gates of Hell” follows the band’s previous singles, which they have released since 2021. The band has been working in the distance over the years, rarely meeting in person, but constantly expanding on each other’s ideas over the internet through chat or video. They recently got signed to Gothenburg-based Rexius Records in 2021.

One For The Many’s “Gates of Hell” will be available on all major streaming platforms on May 12th, 2023.
