A Brand New Day

Struggles and escapism

Swedish alternative country band Gravy Train returns with “A Brand New Day”, a personal song about the struggles of living throughout a long life crisis. With an American singer/songwriter rock-inspired sound, the song reminds of the music of Kris Kristofferson.

Speaking on the song’s topic, the band’s lead man, Jonas Frykman relays: “This song is about both addiction and mental illness”. Touching these subjects in a very subtle way, the song narrates the encounter of two friends who meet in Shamrock, Texas, and their lives after that event.

Recorded in the Stigbergsstudion in Gothenburg, the band enlisted the help of producer Petter Lithvall and violinist Alice Thorsell to collaborate with the recording.

Gravy Train released their first singles on Spotify in 2019, continuing with more songs in 2020.

The band got signed to Gothenburg-based Rexius Records in 2021. They’re now preparing for the release of “A Brand New Day” on June 17th.
