Honesty through the pain
Belgian bedroom pop artist Ben Wolf releases “Truth Untold”, a sincere and heartfelt song about a painful breakup. With an emotional vocal sound reminiscent of James Blunt’s and cathartic lyrics that remind of some of Ed Sheeran’s work, the song’s lo-fi approach further develops the artist’s previous sound.
Reflecting on the song’s topic, Ben describes it as “Words being left out; not being able to say what’s on your mind because the book was closed before the chapter was over”.
On the song’s genesis, he adds, “The song itself started at a party, where another artist showed me some chords on the guitar”. After this, further development took place, “I took those chords home, expanded on them, and let my heart speak about what it was going through at the time“.
Over a year after its initial conception and a move to Sweden, “Truth Untold” was recorded in Gothenburg in July 2022 with the assistance of producer Petter Lithvall, whom Ben now considers “a good friend”.
Ben Wolf released his first two singles “Ultraviolet” and “Try Again, Tomorrow” in 2020, followed by the release of his first EP “Now You Know” in 2021. He has also collaborated with other artists, such as Belgian artist WAYI, for whom he wrote the song “Mind Mazes”, reaching the first spot on Belgium’s “Bubbling Under” chart. With a sound similar to Conan Gray, Rex Orange County and Ed Sheeran, Ben Wolf offers that little something extra.
The artist signed with Rexius Records in May 2022, he’s now preparing for the release of “Truth Unfold” on October 7th.
