Wonderfun Returns With Sophomore Album ‘Forever’ – Out May 23
Following their acclaimed self-titled debut in 2023, Swedish indie pop project Wonderfun is back with a second full-length album: Forever, released May 23 via Rexius Records. Brimming with sunshine melodies and bittersweet nostalgia, the album brings together 9 tracks of baroque and chamber pop that reflect Wonderfun’s signature mix of classic and contemporary.
The focus track, “Picking Up Serena,” captures the essence of Wonderfun’s sound: melodic pop grounded in emotional storytelling. With vivid lyrics that recall the awkward thrill of teenage infatuation, it’s a track that feels both timeless and freshly earnest. Glistening keys and vintage textures meet modern arrangement in a song that could have played on a 60s jukebox or in an indie film montage.
Wonderfun, the brainchild of Malmö-based multi-instrumentalist Wonderboy, has made waves with performances across southern Sweden and earned a growing local following. Frontman Wonderboy has also appeared on radio and in press interviews, notably discussing Bob Dylan and Wonderfun’s heartfelt interpretation of “To Make You Feel My Love” in the context of the upcoming biopic A Complete Unknown.
Recorded entirely in Wonderboy Studio, Forever expands the project’s retro-pop palette while diving deeper into themes of self-reflection, love, and quirky vulnerability. It’s a lush continuation of a musical journey that’s as intimate as it is ambitious.
The album Forever is available on all major streaming platforms starting May 23.
