The Grateful Voice from Gothenburg
Swedish pop artist Fredrik Skoglund draws inspiration from Ed Sheeran’s boy-next-door lyricism. He writes love songs with charming simplicity, collaborating with local producers to create a pop sound that reminds you of Shawn Mendes and Justin Bieber.
“My father has always been involved with music. That’s where my interest comes from.”, Skoglund explains. “While in school, I was commissioned to write a song. I thought this was really fun and it sounded good, so I kept it up.”
Skoglund debuted in 2016 with his single “Sense”, followed by “Complicated” (2017), “Only One (2018)”, and “Fall In Love with U” (2019). His early sound had certain electronic influences with hints of The Chainsmokers. For “Only One”, he collaborated with Swedish EDM producer Mattias Magnemyr to create a tropical house remix.
His sound has evolved more and more into pop along the road. After a few singles, he was added to Spotify’s Editorial playlist “Från norr till söder”. The selection highlights promising Swedish local talents.
Fredrik Skoglund got signed to Gothenburg-based Rexius Records in 2019 and is preparing for the release of “Grateful” on October 29th. His first single with the label is a celebration of things to be thankful for in a relationship.
