The Person in the Mirror
Sean Kennedy — The Person in the Mirror (Album, Sept 26, 2025)
New York singer, songwriter and producer Sean Kennedy releases his fifth studio album—and first with Rexius Records—The Person in the Mirror, a vivid portrait of growing up in real time. Blending bedroom pop intimacy with indie-pop scale, Kennedy turns candid journal entries into widescreen songs about memory, loss, family and finding the courage to move forward.
Entirely written and largely self-produced in his home studio, the album threads warm guitars, piano, and synth textures with crisp, modern drum work. Frequent collaborator Nico Koufakis handled mixing and mastering across the project, sharpening Sean’s melodic instincts into radio-ready hooks while preserving the confessional core that’s defined his catalog.
The focus track “Eighteen” is the album’s beating heart—nostalgic and unguarded, it captures the ache of time passing and the grace of letting go. Previously released singles map the emotional terrain: the adrenal rush of “Insane,” the self-preserving boundaries of “Break,” the compassionate letter to a younger self on “Been There Too,” and the cinematic goodbye of “Rear View.” Album highlights like “Autopsy,” “When I Was Young,” and “The Story of My Life” deepen the narrative with orchestral swells, diaristic detail, and the quiet triumphs of healing.
Following a lauded NYC performance in August, Kennedy now builds toward additional live dates (TBA). The album arrives with Spotify Canvas across key tracks and visualizers to extend the story beyond audio.
For fans of Conan Gray, Clairo, Rex Orange County, beabadoobee and the broader Gen Z singer-songwriter wave, The Person in the Mirror offers the best of both worlds: the raw, bedroom-born closeness that first drew listeners in, and the confident, panoramic songwriting of an artist hitting his stride.
