Josie Dion – Music as a Bridge to the Subconscious

Singer-songwriter Josie Dion blends contemporary vocal jazz and jazz-pop, crafting songs that translate emotion into sound and resist formula. A deep admirer of Nancy Wilson’s vocal craft, her intimate approach sits close to artists like Diana Krall, Jeanne Newhall, David Linard, and Elly Hoyt. Her writing unfolds like a puzzle – ideas take shape through a process that avoids patterns, pushing her beyond her comfort zone and favoring innovation over predictability.

Her music is perfect for intimate singer-songwriter and jazz-pop playlists, filled with personal stories (hers and loved ones’) set to warm, reflective arrangements that soothe listeners moving through intense emotions. Vulnerability stays at the center, music as a bridge to the subconscious, sound as a cathartic, comforting embrace.

Raised in Massachusetts in a home where music was essential, she honed her voice with the Handel & Haydn Society Youth Choruses, performing as a choir member in Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9 at Symphony Hall, and further shaped her craft at The Hartt School (University of Hartford). Over the years, she’s connected with local audiences in small venues, seeking spaces where she could forge direct connections with listeners.

After releasing “Fall Back Asleep” and “Farewell” and completing a successfully crowdfunded debut EP campaign, Josie signed with Rexius Records (2025) and is preparing to release new music with the label – continuing to create songs that comfort those facing strong emotions.
