Carl Johan Svensson
A Conduit for Contagious Melodies
People don’t have ideas. Ideas have people. The ideas that possess Swedish synthpop artist Carl Johan Svensson are officially known as melodies. Once they infiltrate his naïve and malleable brain, he becomes a vessel dedicated to spreading their infectious resonance.
Carl Johan cultivates his sonic mind viruses using a wide variety of electronic instruments, proudly proclaiming: “Using domesticated lightning to make a metal box do complex math to create sound waves is absolutely evil, and I approve of it wholeheartedly.”
Some of the sound waves Carl Johan has devoured are said to originate from Melody Club, others from Slagsmålsklubben and Familjen. There are even rumors that a few were retrieved from a shamanic tribe in eastern Mongolia. The latter is controversial, since other sources have claimed that he just made that up once when he was drunk.
So plug in your speakers, headphones, or telepathic brain implant (for listeners in the future), and surrender to Carl Johan Svensson’s infectious blend of synthpop, indietronica, and indie pop. Or, to quote David Draiman: Get up, come on, get down with the sickness.
