Abakas delivers a bold fusion of hard-hitting grooves, cinematic storytelling, and progressive rock, crafting atmospheric yet electrifying soundscapes. Formed in Norway in 2018, Abakas began as a collaboration between bassist/vocalist Thomas Heien, guitarist René Gunnerud, and drummer Christopher Haugan. After René’s departure, the band evolved into a four-piece with guitarists Martin Busvold and Erlend Andersen. Their sound draws from hard rock, psychedelic rock, metal, and progressive rock, blending raw energy with intricate, evolving compositions.

In 2022, Abakas joined ex-Nightwish vocalist Tarja Turunen on a multi-country European tour, playing to packed venues in Romania, Slovakia, and the Czech Republic. A self-arranged Polish tour followed in 2023, further cementing their reputation for intense, high-energy live shows.

Their latest tracks, “Come Closer” and “Bewildered,” showcase their blend of atmospheric depth, dynamic shifts, and raw energy, reinforcing their distinctive progressive and hard rock sound. Now signed to Rexius Records, Abakas is set to release three singles and their highly anticipated album in 2025. Perfect for fans of expansive, dynamic rock soundscapes, Abakas continues to craft music that is as intricate as it is visceral.
